Sometimes in life it is so easy to lose sight of what is important and get bogged down with the mundane. Let's face it, women always have something else to cross off on their to-do list and somebody that needs something from them. Generally we are able to multi-task and take this all on board with good faith and love, but sometimes it can all become a little exhausting and overwhelming. That is where I found myself late last week and I have been struggling since to catch back up. I have felt physically and emotionally exhausted and therefore only the most essential things in my life have been completed while I spent some much needed time on me. It is amazing how much better one can feel after spending a few self indulgant days letting the washing pile up, using only the dishwasher and making everyone else in the house pick up after themselves!! A new party dress, a night out to a nice restaurant and a night at a hotel, spending some time painting and I am feeling much more grounded today.
It was a reminder to me that I need to find some more balance in my life. I promised myself earlier in the year that I would begin to create a life with meaning and pursue my love of art. Somewhere along the way I have lost sight of what is important to me and have allowed the mundane to take preference. It is this reminder that I feel grateful for this week.
Inspire Me Thursday had the topic of gratitude for last week, however I didn't manage to complete my painting on time. However this weeks theme flows on from that idea and is Thanksgiving. We do not celebrate Thanksgiving in Australia but I can certainly take a moment to be thankful for all of the blessings that I do have in my life. This painting was painted with the idea that children are always thankful for the simple pleasures in life. They really stop and focus their attention on the moment and savour the joy of the experience. Lollipop Days....
