Illustration Friday - Foggy

This was a spontanious little illustration that I created today, I didn't know it was going to fit the 'Foggy' topic for this weeks IF until I was almost finished. I only just scrape in to submit this by a few hours.

This measures 8" x 10" on kraft coloured cardstock and created using pen, acrylics and pencil. I had so much fun colouring with my pencils today, I don't usually use pencils very often but I found it really soothing and relaxing today.

I also just used a limited palette today. I used 8 pencils ranging in tones from green to blue and used only those colours on her hair, tail, eyes and the water. The only other colour was white and a splash of colour for the lotus flower.

I enjoyed this so much that I have just began a mermaid painting on canvas. This little mermaid is available on Etsy.

I probably won't get back here until Monday as I have to finish painting the ceiling in our home theatre in preparation for our home open this weekend. I would much rather be painting in my studio but it needs to be done.

Illustration Friday - Fail

Even in the fairy tales life doesn't always go to plan. I had lots of fun with this one and experimented using old pages from a book and used pen to create the castle walls.

Materials: Acrylic, pen and paper on canvas.

Size: 25cms x 35cms (I think that is 10" x 14", sorry I am a metric girl).

STORE UPDATE: I have just list this painting on Ebay and my Etsy store has been updated today to add my Willy Wonka painting.

IMT - Watercolor… IF - Captain

This is another combined Inspire Me Thursday and Illustration Friday artwork.

 This weeks Insire Me Thursday topic is Watercolour. I have been procrastinating about trying water colour, however my colour pencil technique is so bad I really needed to have a try at an alternative. I think watercolour will be the way I go from now on with my little illustrations, which I have so much fun creating.

Illustration Friday and Inspire Me Thursday

This week I am short for time, so decided to combine this weeks IF and IMT contributions into one piece. Illustration Friday is Missing, and Inspire Me Thursday is Dear Diary.

 This started as a quick pencil drawing, then I added some pen, didn't like the effect, added some paint and oil pastel, still wasn't sure, so put some water over the top of the water colour pencils I originally used. Basically, the finished result was a big smudged mess, but somehow I think it works. Gives the look of a diary entry smudged with tears, so I think I will just leave it be.

IF - Moon

It looks better in real life as the flash has made the white and gold paint stand out strangely, however it is raining here today and I am cutting it pretty fine getting this into Illustration Friday this week.

I painted it for my friend Belinda, who has been my friend for 27 years, since we were 7. I hope she likes it.

IF - Geeky

Ahhhh, those times in life when you felt as though you had it going on...only to realise much later how wrong it looked. There is a bit of geek in all of us.

IF - Twist

Remember being a child, hanging upside down on a rope swing, twisting about without a care in the world.

IF - Camouflage

I have made the decision to attempt my first Illustration Friday topic to challenge me and stretch my creativity. I am quite please with how this little picture turned out, despite the awful coloured pencils that I used to create it. Lesson learnt, you really need to spend the money on decent pencils to get the desired affects.
