Giselle - Finished

I had a delightful day painting with my friends today and finally finished Giselle. She actually has a lot more detail then I normally add to my paintings and I am really happy with the extra effort. Being a self taught artist, my work is always evolving as I learn new techniques and affects, but then I do believe that art is a never ending journey.

She will be listed tomorrow as I am about to go to the movies to watch Harry Potter (SO excited, we have been counting down for months!!!!!). If anyone is desperate to have her, just send me an email etc, etc.

WIP - Update

Here is the next stage of this painting. She will have black hair and just needs her corsette painted and some finishing touches and then she will be finished. I am meeting with my artist friends tomorrow for a painting session, so I am hoping I will have her finished tomorrow.

 

Yet another circus inspired painting.

I began this painting today and was inspired to continue with the circus theme. It is still in the very early stages of applying skin tones but I think you can see where it is going.

I spent most of the day with my darling Jade. We went to the cinema and watched the Hannah Montanna movie (the things you do for your children). Seriously though, it was better then I thought it would be and Jade just loved it. I was frightened there would be tweenie screaming, but it was kept to a bare minimum. Then we went looking around some op shops looking for found items to be turned into fantastic art. I will post some pictures in the coming weeks of some of my projects.

Circus Completed

This will be a quick post tonight, as it is late and I am ready for bed. I spent a lovely rainy Wednesday in the studio painting this afternoon and finally managed to finish this little acrylic painting that I started last week.

I have circus on the brain at the moment and I already have another painting sketched onto canvas and ready to start. I will post some photo's of it and let you see the progress.

Art retreat at home.

Jade and I are on our mid year break for the next 2 weeks and decided that we are going to have our own mini art retreat here at home. As it is the middle of winter and Rob is working all holidays, we are going to immerse ourselves in the studio. In the past few days we have made bunting (see above) and I finally finished painting our words of inspiration for the wall.

We also created an individual letter each, B is for Bee.....

Jade has also been busy building a dolls house over the past few days. She has made the house, furniture and dolls from scratch. Here are two of the dolls sleeping in the bunk beds....

Illustration Friday - Shaky

Social events always left poor Emma Smithers feeling remarkably shaky and in need of a stiff tonic, strictly for medicinal purposes of course.

 

I also want to share another little drawing that I created today. Jade is worried that my quirky side is emerging again, but hopefully I will stop doodling little bears everywhere now that she is out of my head.

WIP - Circus

I thought I would give you an update on my sketch from yesterday. I always love seeing a work in progress and seeing something transform from a sketch to a painting.  I managed to complete most of the background yesterday and I am hoping to get this little painting finished over the weekend.

New little sketch

I have circus performers on the brain this week, so I thought I would create a little painting this morning and see where it takes me. This sketch is 8" x 10" on canvas and will be painted in acrylics.

I am off to my weekly art group so hopefully I will have a progress report to show you later today.
